5 Step Wellness Detox for Busy Women

I recently shared on Instagram and Facebook that I was getting ready to start my yearly detox and I got a flood of comments and messages of people asking me for more information, how I detox, why I detox, how long I detox, and how they can try it too.

This was the perfect opportunity for me organize my detox on paper, and also explain what detox means for me and how anyone can take this easy formula and implement it in their lives.

Why are you detoxing?

I’m really busy, 3 kids, husband, business owner, etc. Blah, blah, blah.  You know the drill. I am sure that many of you are in the same boat. As a result, my time is very valuable to me, and when committing to any type of program, whether for business or wellness, simplicity is key.

However, this detox is very much needed.

The last 2 years have been a period of growth in my business. It’s been amazing, but, my health has suffered. I’ve noticed that my joints are tighter from sitting so many hours, I’ve gained weight, I have not been drinking enough water, and I have not made exercise a priority.

So it’s time for one of my detoxes! My detoxes/challenges have been very successful for me over the past decade. A few examples:

  • I did a 30-day detox to transition from eating meat and am now I am a vegetarian
  • I did a 30-day writing challenge and revamped my entire business, services, and processes
  • I did a 14-day water fast and lost 30lbs.

Those are just a few.

What is this detox about?

I created the “5 Step Wellness Detox for Busy Women” to speed up wellness, create new habits, and encourage balance for busy women who struggle with balance.

This detox is not about business, but about incorporating balance into your life. All those little things that you need to do so you can still be alive and thriving when your hard work pays off.

Can I get an AMEN?

Because let’s be honest. The hustle can be detrimental. I don’t care what 50 cent says… I don’t want to get rich and die trying. I want to get rich and THRIVE.

I’ve talked in the past about work-life balance, depression among entrepreneurs, and more. It’s a serious epidemic that has turned the world hustle into a dangerous concept.

How long is this detox?

The detox is as long as you want it to be. However, I encourage 30 days because that’s how long it takes to make something a habit.

But honestly, there is no right or wrong way to detox. It can be 3 days, 14 days, 30 days, or longer. It’s up to you and your body and your health*.

Let’s jump right in shall we?

5 Step Wellness Detox for Busy Women

Component 1: Hydrating Detox Waters

Hydration is a big part of my wellness cleanse. I struggle to drink water daily, and I can tell the difference in my joints, my sinuses, and my exercise performance.  Staying hydrated has a ton of benefits, but for business owners, these stand out:

  • Keeps us alert and focused on tasks.
  • Helps our joints and cartilage when sitting all day.
  • Keeps us energized during work days
  • Improves our overall mood

The goal: Start your day off with warm lemon water and drink a minimum of 2 Liters of water per day.

Component 2: Superfood Detox Smoothies & Supplements

I’m adding green smoothies to this detox because I want to increase the amount of nutrients I am getting each day. If you are so busy that you are struggling to eat balanced meals, this is a great way to treat your body to the goodness it deserves.

The goal: Substitute 1 to 2 meals with nutrient-packed green smoothies. If you don’t want to do smoothies, you can do vitamins or supplements instead.

Please try and keep it simple. Having a million recipes will cause you to burn out and not want to continue. I have 2 recipes that I like and only use those 2 unless I get really bored. You can make them ahead of time and freeze.

Here are my smoothie recipes if you get stuck:

My breakfast smoothie recipe:

  • Organic Ginger
  • Organic Bananas
  • Organic Lemon juice
  • Organic Super Green Powder
  • Organic Coconut water

My lunch smoothie recipe:

  • Organic Ginger
  • Organic Bananas
  • Organic Lemon juice
  • Organic Super Green Powder
  • Organic Almond Milk
  • Cold-pressed organic apple juice

Component 3: Enjoyable Exercise & Stretching

Nothing in this detox should be painful. This is why it’s so important to make sure you find an exercise that you love to do and incorporate stretching before and after. It’s that easy. For me, I am not a gym person, I prefer the outdoors, so hiking is my exercise of choice. Find what you love and stick to it.

The Goal: Exercise and stretch 3 to 5 times per week. If you prefer an exercise that incorporates both, like yoga or pilates, that works too! Do what works for you.

Component 4: Clean Dinner & Healthy Snacks

During this detox, I’ll also be eating clean for dinner and snacks, but this is optional as well. You can decide to eat what you want for dinner, and just do the green smoothies for breakfast or lunch. Or you can go all in like me. It’s up to you and your personal goals.

The goal: Eat healthy and clean for dinner throughout your detox as much as possible.

Component 5: Self Care & Lots of Sleep

This one is non-negotiable. Like the water, this is what this challenge is all about. The goal is to get a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of sleep each night (this varies from person to person) and to take care of yourself.

For my self-care, I am deciding to get a manicure, pedicure, and massage every two weeks during the month January. And try my best to enjoy nightly bubble baths before bed each night while listening to an audiobook or a podcast.

The goal: Perform your favorite self-care task as much as possible. At Least once every two weeks.  This can be massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, reading, dancing, games, etc.


That’s it! Easy and simple detox, 100% customizable to your lifestyle and you can do it for as long or as short you want too.
