THIS GUEST POST WAS WRITTEN BY NADIA MURDOCK
As an entrepreneur, I knew what it meant to be busy but I never knew it could get more hectic than that until I had my son!
Once I found out I was pregnant I had a specific plan in place for my company Nadia Murdock Fit. From scheduling guest blog post, preparing content ahead of time, having my newsletters scheduled, clients programs in place etc… I felt pretty confident about the first few months of motherhood from the professional aspect.
I eventually faced a huge culture shock once my son arrived and trying to figure out my new normal has been a trial and error process.
From taking care of my son and family, teaching my classes, working on my company and taking care of myself physically and mentally I had to figure out what worked for me!
Below are 5 tips that I can offer to women that are busy being moms and entrepreneurs!
#1 Invest in a good phone.
I was never a person that always conducted business via my phone but when your are trying to squeeze in an email during nap time, it’s a huge lifesaver!
Not only is it great for traditional emails and texts but I like to use my phone to record ideas, prepare content for my next social post and to meditate.
Apps like Headspace are great for keeping the mind healthy when you need a breather during the day. If you have a moment for a quick mindful workout Yoga Works offers some moves you can fit into the day. Remember a short workout is better than no workout.
#2 Take a walk!
Most days I am working from home, when I am taking my son out for his walk I tend to use this time to fit in a quick phone call.
Finding time to talk on the phone is not always easy so from time to time scheduling calls during his walks works perfectly. Did I mention a dose a fresh air is also an excellent way to reboot your mind and body and get some creative juices flowing while being active. It’s a win all around!
#3 Get up early
This isn’t always my go to option depending on the night before (my son is currently teething). However when I feel energized I like to get up before everyone else and at least get some emails squared away.\
There is something about a quiet house and the sun rising that automatically puts me in a good mood. If I get up early enough I will also use this time to head to the gym to workout!
Now that is a great way to get your day going and get your workout checked off your list.
#4 Plan my meals ahead of time.
To be honest I have never been a big meal prep person but I am a HUGE advocate for keeping a healthy kitchen.
I like to make sure there are smart food choices in my kitchen at all times to avoid grabbing something quick that often tends to be unhealthy.
Also having quick snacks handy for busy days with my son keeps my body fueled and feeling energized rather than sluggish.
#5 Naps are needed.
Before my son arrived I always felt like a loser if I took a nap, thinking this is wasted time, I should be doing something! Since then and with new founded research naps are not only good but needed!
When you allow your mind and body to rest, you are able to be more productive and that is always a good thing!
